I drove my self crazy trying to remedy this dilema for two days. I finally downloaded a program from Stardock called Windows Blinds. That solved my problem.

I noticed that someone else had this problem. Does anyone know how to fix it?

2011-08-05T08:42:14+00:00 i had the system tools virus and after i got rid of it, couldnt change my background. i tried a bunch of fixes found online, including on this page, i found the solution on my own after hours of alternating between emotional displays of frustration and praying. go into control panel> appearance and personalization> under folder options- show hidden files and folders> view tab> hidden files and folders- make sure show hidden files, folders, and drives is selected. then go into your system folder, usually denoted by your name, then underneath written system folder (start> computer> desktop> usually your name/ system folder) , right click on AppData>click properties> unselect hidden> select ok> select yes for perform action for all sub folders. this proceedure might go without saying to the tech savvy, but im not that savvy and no one offered this as a fix that i could find.

2011-06-22T22:11:12+00:00 I finall got my background slide show to work. In windows explorer> OS(C:)>Users> right clicked on name of company user folder. Unchecked hidden which had a check (both Hidden and read only are unchecked now)
Then clicked Apply > to all folders and files. It took a few minutes to apply to all files. Now I can change the theme. Or at least is it changing now.
The other plus is I can now use Auto Correct in Word 2010 which wouldn't let me use.
Much easier than changing settings. Might be a fix for other out there.
