trying to get replacement USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard

I previously had a Wireless Desktop 2000 but unfortunately the usb transmitter broke. So after exhaustive search I went for Logitech MK320 wireless with the unifying usb receiver that you have highlighted here. I have tried using the unifying receiver with MS Wireless Desktop 2000. Unfortunately it doesnt work. Also I called the Logitech representatives and they say that the unifying receiver works only for Logitech Products with Unifying * symbol on them.

Thanks for sharing your experience and giving those tips.  I just tried to do the same...called that number, explained my situation, asked for a supervisor after he "couldn't help me", but didn't get anywhere.  He put me on hold for a little while, but came back on and said that there was no supervisor I could speak with, but that if there was, I would be told the same line.  (Keep in mind I was being very polite the entire conversation.)  

The rationale that he kept giving me was that the transceiver and keyboard/mouse came as a "combo set" and they have absolutely no way to sell/send just a transceiver because it "only works with the set it came with".  I highly doubt that, as it seems to just be a standard 2.4 GHz dongle without any specific addressing or special frequency, but that's the excuse I've gotten from every Microsoft rep I've talked to.  They have never said it with 100% conviction that it WON'T work, just that the set is sold as a combo and indirectly lead you to believe that it won't.

Do you have any further tips on how I might be able to get around this issue and talk to someone who can actually help like you were able to do?  I even tried telling the guy that if I have to replace the entire set that I'll have to go with another company, but that didn't even remotely faze him...he just said they'd be more than happy to assist me with a complete replacement if I decide to go that route.

I talked with Microsoft today and, yes, the person who answered stated that there are NO replacements for the receiver, and I would have to buy a new set up.  After asking to talk to someone who had some technical knowledge and getting no where, I asked for a supervisor.  I was on hold for several minutes, but I was not going to give up.  Finally a supervisor answered and after explaining that I knew something about computers, he offered to send me a whole new unit, free of charge.  And to top that off, he said he would expidite the order and it would ship to me in 1 - 3 days. 

The number that I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure that you ask to talk to a supervisor, as the people that answer haven't a clue.  They just read off of a script.  I hope that this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers and WILL do what it takes to keep them.

Good for you.. But this still doesn't solve the problem of creating electronic wastes, unfortunately.. :(
