trying to get replacement USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard

I've lost the USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard/mouse set, trying to find out where I can get a replacement for it without having to get a whole new keyboard & mouse just for that one transceiver.

Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard 7000

Transceiver says "Microsoft 2.4GHz Transceiver v2.0"

I talked with Microsoft today and, yes, the person who answered stated that there are NO replacements for the receiver, and I would have to buy a new set up.  After asking to talk to someone who had some technical knowledge and getting no where, I asked for a supervisor.  I was on hold for several minutes, but I was not going to give up.  Finally a supervisor answered and after explaining that I knew something about computers, he offered to send me a whole new unit, free of charge.  And to top that off, he said he would expidite the order and it would ship to me in 1 - 3 days. 

The number that I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure that you ask to talk to a supervisor, as the people that answer haven't a clue.  They just read off of a script.  I hope that this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers and WILL do what it takes to keep them.

    Not a Direct reply to the post above - But.

    We have now bought 20 of these Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop Keyboard & Mice sets

    for our company. Only had one sticky key issue.

    But now had 2 damaged transceivers, a bit of a knock and they just fall apart. Its not suitable for Laptop use if you move around.

    We had 7000 ergonomic sets before and you could mix and match the keybord/mice/usb tranceiver with a button to resync - worked fine in a corporate environment. 

    BUT if you can;t do this then this is a very expensive cost to the business.

    Generally love the product but the USB key is its Achilles heel.

    Do let us know if we can work with replacements.

    You will not get an "official" response from Microsoft here.  These forums are essentially a peer-to-peer support group, even if Microsoft does provide the servers.  Although you occasionally may see a response from someone identified with a blue "Microsoft" badge, these are almost exclusively employees of some third-party support organization engaged by Microsoft.  They are primarily script readers and do not speak for Microsoft.

    With that disclaimer, AFAIK, most of the wireless keyboard/mouse sets currently sold by Microsoft (including the "Sculpt" line) do not have a sync button.  If a transceiver from one of these sets is lost or damaged, there is no recourse (unless it's during the warranty period).  You cannot buy a replacement transceiver.

    Seeing as I don't think me bending my receiver is covered under warranty and everything I can find online says I can't get another receiver I decided to try opening it.

    I just got the metal USB frame off by prying up the four tabs with a tiny screwdriver. I couldn't get the plastic open, but tried popping it back into the USB port on my computer anyway and it works just fine now. It's loose. It's not ideal. I'm sure I could figure out a way to bend the metal fame so it makes better contact.

    And that doesn't help folks for whom the transceiver legitimately doesn't work anymore, but it's worth a shot if the alternative is an expensive doorstop.

    This is why you should ALWAYS buy Logitech. They're the only industry standard

    mouse/keyboard and other peripheral company that actually MAKES GREAT PRODUCTS and

    you also don't pay the inflated MS price.
