trying to get replacement USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard

I've lost the USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard/mouse set, trying to find out where I can get a replacement for it without having to get a whole new keyboard & mouse just for that one transceiver.

Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard 7000

Transceiver says "Microsoft 2.4GHz Transceiver v2.0"

I talked with Microsoft today and, yes, the person who answered stated that there are NO replacements for the receiver, and I would have to buy a new set up.  After asking to talk to someone who had some technical knowledge and getting no where, I asked for a supervisor.  I was on hold for several minutes, but I was not going to give up.  Finally a supervisor answered and after explaining that I knew something about computers, he offered to send me a whole new unit, free of charge.  And to top that off, he said he would expidite the order and it would ship to me in 1 - 3 days. 

The number that I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure that you ask to talk to a supervisor, as the people that answer haven't a clue.  They just read off of a script.  I hope that this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers and WILL do what it takes to keep them.

    Lucky you. I just got off the phone calling the number above. I was told that Microsoft Parts Replacement can't actually ship any replacement parts, that the supervisor was too busy to talk to me, and that they wouldn't call me back due to call volumes.

    I was told that I could take the keyboard to any electronics store and get a universal transceiver, which I suspect is a complete crock.

    My advice: Avoid MS, buy a Logitech with their excelling Unifying adapters.

    Microsoft hardware is decent but their service is absolutely appalling. What a waste.

    False.  I work refurbishing electronics and reselling them.  I got a few hundred MS keyboard/mouse wireless combos.  These bluetooth dongles from MS will work with ANY MS bluetooth keyboard across many models.  so the "paired" specifically encrypted blah blah reason you posted above simply isnt true.  The RF dongles will also work across models.  As far as replacements go, I cannot get any non branded microsoft dongle to work yet.  I have tried 5 or 6.

    If this is true with the sculpt desktop combo then it would be excellent. But i've not found a way to re-pair them. I did beleive for a while that when initially shipped they were unpaired and hoped to find a way to then reset them to allow re-pairing again - never did :(.

    My laptop was stolen with my transceiver still in the USB port, so I called the number listed here (800-360-7561) and the first person I spoke with offered to ship me a new keyboard/mouse set free of charge. You'll need to send them your old keyboard/mouse set and a copy of the invoice from the purchase (with shipping time, it can take a couple of weeks), so this only really works if you have a backup keyboard and mouse to tide you over.
