I've lost the USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard/mouse set, trying to find out where I can get a replacement for it without having to get a whole new keyboard & mouse just for that one transceiver.

Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard 7000

Transceiver says "Microsoft 2.4GHz Transceiver v2.0"

thanks!

I talked with Microsoft today and, yes, the person who answered stated that there are NO replacements for the receiver, and I would have to buy a new set up.  After asking to talk to someone who had some technical knowledge and getting no where, I asked for a supervisor.  I was on hold for several minutes, but I was not going to give up.  Finally a supervisor answered and after explaining that I knew something about computers, he offered to send me a whole new unit, free of charge.  And to top that off, he said he would expidite the order and it would ship to me in 1 - 3 days.

The number that I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure that you ask to talk to a supervisor, as the people that answer haven't a clue.  They just read off of a script.  I hope that this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers and WILL do what it takes to keep them.

Have a great day.

Agreed, when its clearly a warranty failure MS are now much better at replacements. But the fact that any single point of failure after warranty, or physical damage before warranty ends, causes all components to be sent to landfill and new ones required is a big shame for maximising investment.

Its even more annoying that the USB dongle is so fragile. V2 of this design might be the best thing ever if it addresses these concerns.

I lost my transceiver then found this forum and called the number posted by Robert Webb, 800-360-7561, option 2, and Microsoft said they will send me a replacement desktop combo set.  I had to send them a copy of my receipt and they said my replacement will arrive in 7-10 business days.

I didn't have to speak with any supervisors -- I was surprised they didn't make this painful.  Thank you Microsoft.

They said the transceivers are unique to each desktop set so I guess looking for a replacement (from a 3rd party manufacturer) is pointless.

In order for Microsoft to replace your original keyboard and mouse combo, you must talk to the managers that Microsoft explain what happened to your mouse combo set. Once that is done, and they have given you a confirmation number or reference number, and have asked you to return your equipment to their returns department with the confirmation or reference number on a piece of paper inside of the box as well as it being written on the box. And if you also have a tracking number please call them with the tracking number. Once this has been done, Microsoft will replace your broken combo, and your new equipment will be on its way. I had my equipment within four days of dropping off my broken equipment at the post office for shipment, and emailed them the tracking number. Hope this information helps, if you need any other help. I can give you the name of the manager that took care of my case from start to finish. Now I am enjoying my brand-new Microsoft desktop 3000 combo set.

    Sincerely,

    Robert Webb
