trying to get replacement USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard

I've lost the USB transceiver for my wireless keyboard/mouse set, trying to find out where I can get a replacement for it without having to get a whole new keyboard & mouse just for that one transceiver.

Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard 7000

Transceiver says "Microsoft 2.4GHz Transceiver v2.0"

I talked with Microsoft today and, yes, the person who answered stated that there are NO replacements for the receiver, and I would have to buy a new set up.  After asking to talk to someone who had some technical knowledge and getting no where, I asked for a supervisor.  I was on hold for several minutes, but I was not going to give up.  Finally a supervisor answered and after explaining that I knew something about computers, he offered to send me a whole new unit, free of charge.  And to top that off, he said he would expidite the order and it would ship to me in 1 - 3 days. 

The number that I called is 800-360-7561, option 2.  Make sure that you ask to talk to a supervisor, as the people that answer haven't a clue.  They just read off of a script.  I hope that this helps someone out there.  Microsoft wants to keep their ccustomers and WILL do what it takes to keep them.

    I had the same issue yesterday and was told that no two USB receivers are the same, meaning they don't supply just the receiver.  I called the 800 number provided above and spoke with a very nice Philippino tech support agent from Olongapo, PI.  He spoke very good English, was very polite and very accommodating.  He placed an order for a brand new keyboard and mouse replacement and it arrived today, completely free!  OVERNIGHT DELIVERY!

    LemP, Apollo just flew in the door—and behind him, Priorities. I suspect it might surprise you to know that, generally, I'm known as a nice person; and as such I never feel it proper, cutting someone off at the knees in the middle of a debate by walking out. I recall, however, a famous line from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein that goes (The monster): "This is passion is detrimental to me."     I hear you, Redfish, but my comments stand. If the transceiver is paird to a specific keyboard, that is a matter of coding. It's a number.

    Imagine buying a car and being told that because the fuel tank got punctured you have to buy a whole new car.

    You're missing the point, and your car analogy is flawed:  the transceiver and keyboard are not component parts of each other -- they're a matched set.  If you lost or damaged one earring or one shoe or one glove, why would you expect the maker to provide you with a replacement?

    You seem to think that you're entitled to a new transceiver because it is small and easily lost or damaged.  If you had the transceiver and instead lost or damaged the keyboard (e.g., you dropped your 50-pound barbell on it), would you expect Microsoft to give you a new keyboard?
