You can save custom desktop icon position and restore it when needed, using the Layout.dll shell extension from Microsoft. REF:Save and Restore Desktop icon layout in Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7. Or try DesktopOK Freeware - save and restore desktop icons.

    Try first to change the registry entry i write above, after rebooting system, check if the issue perssist, if no do full scan with eset and then check again/

    Unistall ESET antivirus reboot , if the issue persist  press windows logo + R        and  write regedit then ok and look for this key

    *HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32*

    Now Right click on InProcServer32 in the window sidebar and click Permissions then Advanced then Change then Advanced then Find Now.

    Now find and select Administrators (not Administrator) and OK until first window.

    Now select Administrators and check Full Control and OK.

    That's it. Hereafter you will not see "Access is denied" message

    Now Double click on (Default) and replace

    %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\shell32.dll

    With

    %SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll

    Repeat steps for this other key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\

    Reboot, the issue will disappear.

    I am not sure what you mean by that... i use "NOD Antivirus 8" from ESET (for many years) if that is what you are refering to.
