Java is not in the Internet Options of the Advanced tab

I HAVE A VISTA HOME PREMIUM COMPUTER. I UPGRADED THE JAVA TO 6U13.  AFTER THE UPGRADE THE JAVA WOULDN'T WORK. I CALLED HP AND IT WAS DECIDED TO RESTORE THE COMP TO THE ORIGIONAL STATE WHEN BOUGHT AND WAS TOLD TO REDOWNLOAD JAVA, BUT FIRST I DID ALL THE WINDOWS UPDATES FIRST. THEN DOWNLOADED THE JAVA  AND STILL DIDN'T WORK. UNINSTALLED AND DOWNLOADED AN EARLIER VERSION STILL DIDN'T WORK. THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR I DISCOVERED THAT THE JAVA ICON WAS NOT IN THE INTERNET OPTIONS ON THE ADVANCED TAB. CALLED HP BACK AGAIN AND THEY WENT THROUGH THE SECURITY WITH ME AND TOLD ME TO REDOWNLOAD IT AGAIN AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO JAVA .COM FOR THE DOWNLOAD. CHECKED THE VIRTUAL MACHINE AND THE MAN DANCED SAID IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. i FOUND THE 6U13 IN THE CONTROL PANEL AND IN THE ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS. I WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE START  AND TYPE IN JAVA. THE RESULTS WAS NO ITEMS FOUND. THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT DOWNLOADED TO THE COMP BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHERE. IT MUST HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED TO C DRIVE. ALSO WHEN THE COMP WAS RECOVERED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THR DISC TO THE PRINTER IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE HAD TO GO AND DOWNLOAD THE DRIVER OFF THE INTERNET TO GET IT TO WORK. ALSO ONCE THE JAVA WAS LOADED IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE THATS WHY I WENT TO AN EARLIER VERSION. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THE INTERNET PROVIDER IS AOL. THANK YOU

    Absolutely right-my java showed as disabled too, but it was the SSV helper (whatever that means). In the meantime I had no problems with java on game sites.

    Hello,

    I have done that before but went and checked again and java is enabled. I still can't sign into Pogo.com to play games. I can sign in to the help option and send an email to them but when I go into sign in to play games, it still says I have my cookies disabled, even though I don't.

    No one has answered why sun java is not even showing up in the advanced tab.  I uninstalled and reinstalled java.  I am running Vista and IE8.  Brand new computer and I can't get pogo to work.  It works with IE8 on another computer.  Again, java is not in the Internet Options, Advanced tab to enable.  The link on given earlier to the pogo troubleshooting steps have all been tried.  The issue is java is not showing up in the Advanced tab.  How do we get it to show up there?  That was the original question.

    Hi Steve:

    I have a similar problem to DOT HOBBS ie., I also could not find the Java(SUN) in my Internet Advance options. And you were perceptive in that he must have had a specific problem when he discovered the missing specification. Thank you for the response at this site for verifying that it won't be in the Advanced drop down. My problem is that I get an Internet Exporer Script Error when tyring to run a problem management tutorial program. Since I cannot imbed a sreen print or file I will try to decribe the error message below. By the way I have checked all settings on various IE 8.0 page tabs to ensure that Java is enabled and that the security level is medium.
