I HAVE A VISTA HOME PREMIUM COMPUTER. I UPGRADED THE JAVA TO 6U13. AFTER THE UPGRADE THE JAVA WOULDN'T WORK. I CALLED HP AND IT WAS DECIDED TO RESTORE THE COMP TO THE ORIGIONAL STATE WHEN BOUGHT AND WAS TOLD TO REDOWNLOAD JAVA, BUT FIRST I DID ALL THE WINDOWS UPDATES FIRST. THEN DOWNLOADED THE JAVA AND STILL DIDN'T WORK. UNINSTALLED AND DOWNLOADED AN EARLIER VERSION STILL DIDN'T WORK. THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR I DISCOVERED THAT THE JAVA ICON WAS NOT IN THE INTERNET OPTIONS ON THE ADVANCED TAB. CALLED HP BACK AGAIN AND THEY WENT THROUGH THE SECURITY WITH ME AND TOLD ME TO REDOWNLOAD IT AGAIN AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO JAVA .COM FOR THE DOWNLOAD. CHECKED THE VIRTUAL MACHINE AND THE MAN DANCED SAID IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. i FOUND THE 6U13 IN THE CONTROL PANEL AND IN THE ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS. I WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE START AND TYPE IN JAVA. THE RESULTS WAS NO ITEMS FOUND. THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT DOWNLOADED TO THE COMP BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHERE. IT MUST HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED TO C DRIVE. ALSO WHEN THE COMP WAS RECOVERED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THR DISC TO THE PRINTER IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE HAD TO GO AND DOWNLOAD THE DRIVER OFF THE INTERNET TO GET IT TO WORK. ALSO ONCE THE JAVA WAS LOADED IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE THATS WHY I WENT TO AN EARLIER VERSION. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THE INTERNET PROVIDER IS AOL. THANK YOU

When I go to the java site to test to see if the java is working it says it is working fine. The java does not work on the comp when you go to a site to use java and it does not come up on the task bar. Went to the trobleshoot and followed the directions to enable the browser to run java in internet options and thats when I found out the java was not in the advanced tab. i can see the java panel and when you go to it it says the 6u13 java is enabled, but it still doesn't open on any site using java. is there anything that might be stopping it from loading correctly or is there something else wrong and i think its the java. i have been through the java help and tried the things there. I am at a loss at this point. Thank you for responding to my question. i will be waiting for your reply. I am sorry I can go to the java panel and go to the java default. when i click that the internet explorer is checked but is in gray. do you think this has anything to go with my problem.

Do you see the normal Java applet in the Windows control panel? And can you enable it using this method http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000021500.xml?

That's odd because I do not see that using Vista Ultimate SP1 x86, IE8, and JRE 1.6 Update 13 however I do see it with XP Pro, IE8, and JRE 1.6U13. I do however see the normal Java Control Panel applet for either OS.

i went to your link and it did take me to the internet options advanced tab but the java is not in there. i am not very good with this computer stuff. I am learning as I go along. Maybe i didn't use the link right. If it was supposed to take me to the internet options then I did it right, but the java was not in mine at all. thats what I need to do get the java back into the internet options advanced tab. This is the situation I upgraded java 6u13 the java would not work. I uninstalled it and went back to java6u12 it still did not work. At this time the java was in the internet options advanced tab. I went through the steps java told me to trouble shoot on the java page. I called hp they took me through the security and told me to download the java again and it should work properly. i did that and it still wouldn't work. I went through the troubleshoot again on java page and thats when I discovered that I didn't have java in the internet options anymore. i also could not go through ie through the tools to get to java console. I went back to java,com and tested the java there it said it was working properly. i don't understand it. When you go to a site with java it doesn't open up. Also when you go to the start menu and type java it says item not found. It seems like something is stopping it from working properly. If you have any suggestions how to fix this problem or know another reason for this to be happening please let me know. Maybe I think this is the problem and its something else. Please when you answer will you put it in steps i can understand. I would appreciate it. Thank you for your help. I will look forward to hereing from you.
