After doing a full installation of Windows 7 professional 64-bit onto a laptop previously with Windows XP MCE 2005 there is a problem with a piece of hardware. In device manager the details are as follows:
Mass Storage Controller
Device type: Other devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: PCI bus 6, device 7, function 2
Device status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
I have tried windows update and it cannot find a driver.
I am happy to provide any further information required and I appreciate any help offered.

Vista driver for Clevo M570U :

When there will be some kind of problems with installation then try to run it in Vista compatibility mode.

The link does work, but it's hosted on a slow FTP server so it's probably haphazard.

As a side note, I didn't need to use any compatibility settings to install the driver. Just run it and it seems to work out fine.

Does your laptop have an SD card reader? This is often the missing piece. Look on the laptop mftr.'s website for Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

It does have a card reader, but the manufacturer does not have Windows 7 64-bit drivers.
In the device manager it has a device with the name "SDA standard compliant SD host controller", it says this device is working properly. Is this relating to the SD card reader?

Yes, the missing drivers are for your SD card reader. If you can figure out who made the card reader (Ricoh for instance), you might be able to find drivers for it on their website. If you look at the laptop mftr.'s website for the Vista drivers (or XP drivers), it will probably list the card reader's mftr. Or just disable the device in Device Manager and use a USB card reader instead.
