Disable Hover Feature

Agree totally.

I have been searching for a solution to this problem for over 2 months. I have tried most of the suggestions that have been posted but none of them worked....until now!!! Thanks to suebutler for the very simple solution that probably no one would ever try because the description on the check box is actually the reverse of what you want to happen with the cursor hover. Thank you soooo much suebutler!!!

I had the same problem and now no more, try this

Click start

Click control panel

click ease of access centre

Click change how your mouse works

scroll down to make it easier to manage windows

this is the important bit...actually activate the tick box for "activate a window by hovering over it with a mouse. This is actually opposite to what you think you should do but it worked for me. Good Luck everyone.

I know exactly what you're talking about:  You're working and wherever the pointer is at rest, random commands that you haven't initiated commence.  I've also had a problem with my right-click menu randomly popping and had attributed it to a stuck button, but, lo and behold, I think I have found the solution to both issue - and it is not in the control panel mouse settings; it is in the mouse/keypad manufacturer settings.

I'm no computer whiz and please forgive me in advance for my misuse of technological terminology, but I can't believe that after searching for the answer to this for months no one has come up with this solution, so I share:

• First I went into Control Panel>Mouse Properties>Device Settings.
• The device is highlighted (mine is a Synaptics Touch Pad V6) in the box and I clicked the "Settings" button directly belos.
• A "Properties for Synaptics...." box pops open and from the left-hand sidebar "tree menu"  you can expand multiple action features by clicking on the little "+" before each item.  To the right, a full description of each option will direct you to do a variety of things to control how the keypad and buttons respond!!!Holy cats. 

You can change the sensitivity of the pointer, maximize the amount of pressure required for the sensor pad (PalmCheck-Enhance) and all kinds of stuff.  I haven't had one issue as I type out this response.

(Now, if only someone could resolve a similar I've-tried-every-recommendation-but-nothing-works-issue of creating a Home Group between my computers, I'd really be productive.)

this seems to have worked for me  in terms of opening by hovering and highlighting everything even though I had unchecked the auto select in mouse settings., Sometimes I get the little swirly thing with the mouse pointer that i have not seen before.  Does not seem to be a big deal though.  I also unchecked all three that had the word animate or animation; will check back to see if 2aggravated has decided if all 3 need to be unchecked.  Still have issues when typing and the place I am typing moves to a diffferent location in the text.  hate that...any solutions?.
