Disable Hover Feature

I have been having this problem also. Although when I looked at the "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse, activation box "  it was unchecked.  So I checked it, then unchecked it and applied the settings.  This setting has seem to have taken, and with the little experimenting I have done, the cursor no longer opens something when it hovers.  This has annoyed me for a long time and my previous searches had not been fruitful. Thanks.

Try this,

click start>click,control panel>click, Ease of access center>click, Make mouse easier to use>look at page, if there is a check mark for, Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse, uncheck it.

thank you! suffered this feature for 3 months now... never bothered looking back into what was wrong. and it was such a simple fix. HA.

I struggled with this ridiculous issue for longer than any aging, jaded Windoze veteran ought to have! Given that we are referring to a Laptop/Notebook computer with a touchpad, I believe I can give you a functional work-around if you, as did I, found that the solution proferred by 'Suebutler' was not doing the trick. If Sue's solution works in your case, use it, as it is a true solution and not a work-around.

That beind said, this is the procedure which worked for me:

   1.) Open 'Control Panel'.

   2.) Click on 'Mouse' which should open the 'Mouse Properties' window.

   3.) Click on the 'Device Settings' tab which should be on the far right.

   4.) Highlight your touchpad device and click on the 'Settings' button, again on the far right.

   5.) This should open a window called 'Properties for Synaptics Touchpad' or something similar.

   6.) On the left side of the window find and highlight the option called 'Tapping'.

   7.) Clear the checkbox labelled 'Enable Tapping' and press 'Apply' or 'Okay'.

   8.) Hopefully celebrate the end of chaotic opening, activating and cursor leaping!

As I mentioned previously, this is a work-around, not a fix. The problem is that in eliminating the undesireable behaviour, we also eliminate a useful touchpad function, namely, tapping. Let's hope Microsoft will proffer a true fix to this harrying problem.

My Dell has the ease of  access , but marking enable and disable does nothing to change the hover/open problem.  I have tried it both ways - repeatedly. I have had a stroke. I have slow hands.  I do not want to open things simply because I do not move the darn pointer fast enough.  It is frustrating, confusing and ....Anyway IS THERE A WAY TOTOTALLY DISABLE THIS IRRITATING FEATURE?
