Windows 7: Search does not find files that it should, directory is indexed, and *.php included on the extension list

Windows 7: Search does not find files that it should. I have the directory indexed, and *.php included on the extension list but search does not find files for searches for words that that I know there are files with those words in them.

this is rediculous why is it so difficult to search file contents in windows 7??? no we shouldn't have to go find and install some 3rd party add on or program to make this work.

a txt document anywhere on the local disk's content's should be searchable whether or not its been indexed!! If the computer has to do a manual full disk search of every file on the hard drive it should be possible without having to search the internet for fixes, checking a dozen check boxes, or using some 3rd part solution.

I focused on the W7-issue. Meanwhile I tried FreeCommander (freeware, interface is a bit of an overkill) and strangely enough this finds files (without having indexed)  that Explorer doesn't find. 

I've heard about Ransack, maybe I'll give it a try.

Only serious masochists into extreme self-abuse buy Microsoft products.  I am not a big fan of Apple. Their equipment is over-priced. Their customer support sucks. But at least their computers work as they were designed. This type of problem would never exist on a Mac computer. 

I have been struggling with the search feature on Windows 7 for four months now on a machine I use at work. One day MS is going to drive someone to lose their mind over their products inability to do simple things they were designed to do.  MS Windows 7 search doesn't find files in my main directory that are there.  I found the file I was looking for another way. The words I searched for are in the file, yet Windows 7 can't find the file.  I normally don't get angry, but I now have more personal animosity for Bill Gates than I have for any person who has ever lived. 

I called a top level Vice President of Customer Support at Microsoft, and they put me in touch with techs who berated and verbally abused me, but who could not solve one of the problems I gave them. Microsoft is the worst POS Company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life.

If Bill Gates wanted to do the world a big favor it would create a operating system that actually worked.

Go for a neat little Freeware program called 'Agent Ransack' ; I think this will solve most of your searching issues!
