**Original Title**nvlddmkm.sys causes BSOD

Hi,

I can't start Vista since a week or so. Just before the login screen should apear, it crashes into a BSOD, reporting that the problem is the nvlddmkm.sys driver.

I've been checking the Internet for days now (a lot of forums), and it seems to be a "common" problem, occuring with all kinds hardware and software configurations. I've tried just about everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Hi Maarte61,

Sorry to your having so much trouble. Since your having the same issue even when the driver was rolled back, it leads me to believe even more so, that it could be card itself. You might try contacting the cards manufacturer. We could rule this out though, if you have another video card we can try. Do you have one you could test?

Thanks again,

Jason

Hi Maarte61,

Unfortunately, my guess would be the driver or the card itself. Since it worked fine for while, then just stopped. My best guess would be the card's the issue. Can you cancel the driver install when you get to normal mode? If so, I would try canceling it and downloading the new driver. Or if your in "Safe mode with networking" I'd go ahead and download them them and have them ready. So if you can cancel, you wouldn't have to go download them. Let us know and thanks again for posting.

Thanks,

Jason

Hello Carlos and i should thank you since your the only person willing to help me in any way, so, THANX! :)

    1. My computer freezes on black screen
    2. I am not getting any kind of error unfortunately, it just freezes to black screen. The blue screen i got BEFORE i could not start my comp correctly was: http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=07022009072nd9.jpg

3.Well, i was playing RA3 (programm that needs some graphics that is) when suddenly my comp threw me to a blue screen, the one above i posted the link to. After that i restarted, when i do restart i get the ACER logo, on it there is pink stripes vertically. After that it shows the windows loading bar (the little bar horisontal) after that, it just freezes to an endless black screen.

    1. Now i have had this issue for 2 weeks.
    2. No, only the Nvidia´s latest beta driver for Nvidia 8600M GS, for notebooks
    3. No, it is a notebook from Acer. Acer Aspire 7520G

And yes, i understood your questions :)

I have tried almost everything i can to fix this. The Nvidia forums are full of ppl having same probs unfortunately no 1 having any conclusion to this prob. The funny thing is, i can start my comp in safe mode, i can uninstall the Nvidia driver, when the it asks to boot your comp, it normaly launches to windows (i still can see the pink stripes on the ACER logo tho, so i know the prob isnt fixed). After that, it reinstall´s the drivers automaticly, and after that, same thing, i can´t launch into windows.

I also know that my videocard isnt broken since i could fix this once. I deleted all my drivers, launched to autorepair start (or what is it called) and it worked normally after that for 2 days (without the pink stripes on the logo when booting). But after i played a couple games the same prob started again.

    Lavidia,

Thank you for responding the questions that were asked in my previous post. You mentioned that you are getting a "Pink" stripe on the Acer logo when you turn on your computer. This is not a good sign. When a computer is initially turned one of the first things that start is the "BIOS" (Basic Input Output System). The BIOS does not use Windows drivers at that point. So if you are getting a pink stripe on the logo this indicates that you are most likely having a hardware issue. I think the question now is if this is still under warranty. If so then I would suggest to contact ACER and talk to them about having the video card replaced. If it is out of warranty unfortunately software will not be able to fix hardware in most cases. The next best thing we can try is to install different drivers on the video card and hope that the video card will not give out.

Please let us know if this laptop is still under warranty or not.

    Thanks.
