I have a video clip that was taken with a digital camera, but they took it on a 90 degree angle of normal, like you take a picture, but I can't find a way to rotate the video frame like you can with a picture.  Is that possible??

Its fairly simple guys, i just worked it out:

1] Open the video in WIndows Live Movie Maker

2] Hit the Rotate Right icon

3] You can either upload direct to Youtube or Facebook  OR

4] Click SAVE MOVIE icon and click "For Computer"

The file saves as WMV format.

Good luck

  1. Open the video or project in Windows Live Movie Maker
  2. Go to the "Home" tab
  3. In the tool bar at the top look in the "Editing" group. There you will see Rotate Left and Rotate Right icons. Click on either of them until your video is the correct orientation.

4 Save. You're done!

I'm using Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 build 15.4.3538.0513. Download it for free here: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-movie-maker-get-started

Hello Ski Patrol,

Thank you for posting.   There is no way to rotate the video in Windows Media Player, but the Video can be edited in Windows Movie Maker.  Movie Maker has an option to rotate the video.

Please let me know if this is a helpful option for you and I can guide you through the steps to do it in Movie Maker.

Hello devonnoved and 21Xochi,

To rotate frame in Movie Maker, on the menu bar select Tools> Effects. The effects are in aphabetical order. There is a Rotate 90, Rotate 180 and Rotate 270.

There are also a Mirror, Horizontal, Vertical to flip the image. Hope this helps you all. Make it a great day

Just wondering if you can help me with a problem in Windows Movie Maker. I am creating a video with one of the scenes (clips) rotating. It actually is a closeup of an eyeball rotating. Now I used the rotating icon under Visual Effects in a clip on my timeline/storyline, but the problem is that it is a rectangular box that the clip is rotating in in a circular motion, so while it's rotating in a circle the edges of the black background show. Follow me? The rotating eyeball is not taking up the whole box, so it doesn't look right. I am trying to make the whole box filled up with the rotating eyeball (or whatever I want to rotate, but the edges of the black background is showing.  Thx.
