Hello, im having a problem with a xbox 360 wireless receiver on my windows 7 64bit, i installed the software that came with the receiver and it installed fine but when i went to connect the controller with the receiver it doesnt work, i've tried it dozens of times and i have rang microsoft for help but they werent too sure. Its a official controller which came with an xbox360 and the receiver isnt microsoft but i was told from the microsoft people that some receivers are made outside of microsoft but are still fine. I'm wondering if there is a specific windows 7 receiver driver for it?

thanks

james

hey thanks i got it to work! so relieved. heres how you do it:

Right click on Computer

Go to Properties

Click on Device Manager

Right click on the Unidentified Device

Go to Properties

Go to the Drive tab

Click on Update Driver…

Browse my computer for driver software

Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class

Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]

Update Driver Warning

Click Yes

i cant believe it was that simple, you dont need to download any seperate driver or anything, just follow the steps.

thanks

hey dude. I gave up on this thing like 6mo back, but now that I stumble upon this, I definitely want to try it again. I was messing around with this thing for the longest time, trying to get it to work with project64 and even microsoft customer service over the phone couldn't help me. Either way, the lil red CD the adapter came with is long gone. Does Microsoft offer the 'windows version :2.1.0.1349' online? Last time I checked, the best thing I could find was the program to keep track of the status on the site. It's so weird that Microsoft would make such a huge deal about 7 being all new n stuff and turn around and offer zero support for older hardware. At least apple comes out with new stuff you have to buy. It's like this adapter doesn't exist.
