My taskbar keeps disappearing randomly and will not come back until I restart.  Once I restart the taskbar comes back and then disappears again. I have looked at the other solutions from people having similar problems and the solutions do not work.

open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del, click Task Manager)

Click on File>New Task (Run) and enter "explorer.exe" (without the quotes)

Then click OK.

Does it come back?

    XANDERS,

Thanks for your input but I am thinking not all cases are cased from 3rd party screen savers since my system is brand new with no added screen savers and I still have the same issue. I have seen others post that they too have the same issue with a new system. I have seen many "go arounds" but no where that I have searched actually has a fix that works, but I will keep searching till microsoft takes their head out of the sand and puts out an update to fix it.

I just bought an Hp Pavilion this weekend, hooked it up last night and am having the same issue. It's driving me crazy. Whenever I wake up my computer everything is gone except my desktop background. Even hitting ctrl+LT+DELETE does nothing. I do get a message that the DVI on my monitor is "inactive."

Here's the weird part -- if I turn my monitor off, then back on, everything magically reappears. And the DVi status on the monitor is "active."  Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to fix? THis is making me sorry I didn't just keep my old computer.

I wish I could get my task bar to disappear and stay gone! I've got it set on auto hide but everytime I go near the bottom of the screen it pops back into view again! I've got a 10" netbook and I need the screen space not a bar that gives me icons I can find perfectly well if I need them!! Argh!! It's driving me mad.  Please let me know if there's anyway to get rid of it permanently? (Win 7 btw). Ta much.
