Sound Blaster X-Fi and Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi on a Dell XPS 710.  Installed Windows 7 64-bit.  Everything went great.  Downloaded and installed the new drivers from Creative for this sound card and Windows 7/64.  It installs but I get a staticy echo sound to everything.  Is there a fix?  The drivers are dated 6/2009.

: WORKAROUND:

I claim NO responsibility if you mess this up but you can use this as a temporary work around until it is resolved by creative labs without removing memory... physically.

First run MSCONFIG

select the boot tab

select advanced options

under max memory select 3990 (or any value under 4 GB is fine IE anything less than 1024 * 4)

This will reduce the amount of memory that the PC uses which will allow you to hear the audio.  There is also BETA testing of newer drivers from Creative (the most recent batch of BETAS did not resolve the issue) that I am a part of.  When there is a working beta I will respond so we can all utilize our 64x machines.

    Microsoft has provided a site to check known compatibility issues with certain hardware and software.  I had the SB0460 (Sound Blaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic) card as well.  The compatibility site shows that it is not compatible with Windows 7 in either 32-Bit or 64-Bit.

    I went out and bought a SB ExtremeGamer card since it had the "Microsft Seal of Approval" for Windows 7, but the same staticy echo sound problems remain...

    The same here. I have a Dell XPS 600 and have installed Windows 7 64-bit. Everything went well apart from a crackly poor sound coming through the speakers. I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme music card with a Creative driver 6/2/2009 6.0.1.1373. Would really like to fix this problem.

    I too have a audio issue with a DELL XPS 730 Quad and installed Windows 7 and sure enough. No audio. Prior to upgrading my audio was popping and would go out on occasion. I couldn't control the volume either. It was really loud and lowering it in the control panel didn;t help. Thinking Creative Labs has gone to the dark side and isn't making good sound cards any longer.

    Same problem here.

    Everything worked fine with my SB XFI Gamer Fatal1ty under WinXP SP3. Installed Win_7 64bit and have static sound, popping, or total sound loss. Problem starts from the minute you log into Win_7. Installed the drivers from the CL site v.2.8.00.13. Also ran the auto updates for the CL software and installed any updates it found. Since it seems to be a driver problem will have to wait until CL releases a fix. In the meantime I can use the onboard motherboard Realtek audio chipset and keep my ram @ 4GB. "Realtek ALC883 Audio Codec". Sound is crystal clear when using the onboard chipset. I have 8GB of ram coming in a week so that should be nice. Like "M1Shooter" stated, what is the point of going 64-bit if you cant use above 4GB? I would have saved myself some money and stayed with WinXP if that was the case.
