Sound Blaster X-Fi and Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi on a Dell XPS 710.  Installed Windows 7 64-bit.  Everything went great.  Downloaded and installed the new drivers from Creative for this sound card and Windows 7/64.  It installs but I get a staticy echo sound to everything.  Is there a fix?  The drivers are dated 6/2009.

: WORKAROUND:

I claim NO responsibility if you mess this up but you can use this as a temporary work around until it is resolved by creative labs without removing memory... physically.

First run MSCONFIG

select the boot tab

select advanced options

under max memory select 3990 (or any value under 4 GB is fine IE anything less than 1024 * 4)

This will reduce the amount of memory that the PC uses which will allow you to hear the audio.  There is also BETA testing of newer drivers from Creative (the most recent batch of BETAS did not resolve the issue) that I am a part of.  When there is a working beta I will respond so we can all utilize our 64x machines.

    I have a Dell XPS-410, which they are now calling a Dimension 9200. It came with this card you all are talking about, and with winXPpro, in 2007. I just upgraded to win7 pro 64, and of course, no sound at all.

    This is more than a Creative problem. Win 7's 'device manager' cannot even SEE the sound card at all. It just reports some 'multimedia audio controller', for which there are no drivers. Downloading a driver which SEEMS right - claims it is for the PCI X-Fi Sounblaster in win 7 64, but it quits on running - claims it finds no such device on my system.

    Like I say, I think MS has a big share of the blame for this snafu. DM should be able to tell me I have a sound card, for pete's sake.

    Well, pulled some memory out to get below 4 gig and sound problems and all video playback issues are gone.  Kinda defeats the purpose of going with 64 bit though.

    And for those that are about to reply that it's a bad memory module, no it's not. Individually they all work, it's the going to 4gig or more thats a problem.   My bios is at the latest release of 1.4.1.

    So the question now is, is this a win 7 driver problem or a bios issue.

    Ditto here.  Dell XPS 700, upgraded to Win 7 64 bit fine for everything except sound (Creative SB X-Fi  SB0460 card).  Creative driver is 6/2/2009 6.0.1.1373.

    Sound has a pop/static/screech noise at various times.  wmc will play vidoe's for a little bit (3 seconds to a few minutes) and then hang with screeching sound or no audio at all.

    My 2006 XPS 410 has integrated audio, as well as a Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Music card. I upgraded my Ram to 8Gb and replaced my hard drives with 2 1terabyte hard drives before my clean install of Win 7 64bit. Win 7 seems great, except that I have no audio on either the integrated, or sound blaster card
