ERROR CODE 80072EFE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO UPDATE IN WINDOWS UPDATE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. McAFEE installed after win security ess. uninstalled. several problems w/  programs " not responding" constantly and pc running very slow.  compaq presario  SR5550F

    you have a malware ....its a rootkit ....download tdsskiller.exe and youre good to go....then run you windows update....

         Your program is the best,you made my weekend I have been battling with problem for weeks,your the best "ROOTKITS"

    Microsoft had nothing to do with YOU infecting YOUR computer with a W32/Alureon-variant rootkit, Gary.

    Rhetorical QED: How did your computer get infected? What other infections might still be present on the computer?

    Hi

    I have seen this error quite often.

    Error 80072EFE is related to Update server closing the connection.

    Mosty likely, the computer may be infected with ROOTKITS.

    Try to run TDSSKILLER to find any rootkits.

    Download and run from here

    http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe

    Then try to update Windows
