Is there a way to turn off the "On Screen Keyboard", so it doesn't come up everytime I turn on my computer?

Just go to the start screen, and then to Control Panel. In the search box for Control Panel, type Administrative Tools, or click it if you see it already. Scroll down to the Services shortcut and select that.

If you scroll down in the list of services to the 'T' area, you should see Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Service, or words to that effect. It is running, and on Automatic start type. Stop the service, then go into Properties and switch the startup type to Disabled.

Start button > Control Panel > classic view > Ease of Access > click Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard > UN-check Use ON-screen Keyboard > Save

    I have windows 7 on a panasonic toughbook touchscreen laptop. Tried everything mentioned so far (except for the registry editing thing), and none of them worked, I believe this may be due to the touchscreen factor as apparently tablets and touchscreens are different. Like others were commenting, in "ease of access" my box was already unchecked, yet the annoying onscreen keyboard would remain.

    I know there's still people in the same position, so here's what seemed to have worked for me, it is very simple, yet why couldn't they just have an option that says DISABLE! :

    Open the onscreen keyboard

    Select "Tools", and then "Options"

    The tab being displayed should be named "Opening", if not then select it.

    Uncheck these 2 boxes which say:

    "For tablet pen/touch input, show the icon next to the text box"

    and

    "Use the Input Panel tab"

    Hit apply and you're done.

    Thankyou very much :-)

    The bloody thing has been annoying me for months, I only activated it because a frequently used key stopped working on my USB keyboard and I needed that key to log in...
