Hi,

Ive installed a clean copy of Windows7 64bit, on a formatted HD. I am unable to run WEI.

I updated the BIOS for my M3A79-T DELUXE to the latest (1303 rev). Installed all latest drivers for the hardware and latest Windows update.

I have ran c: CHKDSK /F /R /X (Ive seen on a website this has resolve the issue for one person) 

checked all hardware is installed ok and there are no conflicts in device manager.

Windows Experience Index has a log file "%SystemRoot%\Performance\WinSAT\winsat.log". That may give some relevant details.

I had the same error message and, in my case, the log file reported "Unable to save". It appears to have been Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 which was blocking WEI from saving the results. The complete WEI test ran OK and even flashed-up the 'completed' message but this was then immediately replaced with the "assessment could not be completed" message ... because it could not *save* the results.

Can I suggest you try another AV package? If you disconnect the network cable you could safely uninstall your existing AV package and see if WEI works again. If that resolves it, perhaps you need a different AV package from now on.

Personally, I found that Microsoft Security Essentials appears to not have this issue and I can now get my rating again. But I may try some other (try before you buy) packages to see what's best.

Worth a try?

    Having similar problem, it gives me the error that it could not measure storage performance, the temp file needed to perform work could not be placed on the disk. could not find a suitable drive for the file. Which is weird, cause I have plenty of hard drive space. Here is the part from the log file which I think is the error

    254339942 (4992) - storage\diskprof.cpp:2324: Unable to open temporary file.  Largest available contiguous space was: 94MB

    Weird that is says largest contiguous space is 94mb? I have 9gb free on my smallest drive and the one Windows is installed on has like 30gb free. Really annoying!

    I ran a sfc scan (learned something new), and didn't find any problems. I also have a BFG 9800GT with Nvidia drivers, Windows 7 Pro 64, Asus MB, 4gb of RAM.

    Hi, I am having a similar problem where the WEI completes but doesn't assign a score to the Windows Aero and the Gaming graphics sections resulting in an overall score of only 1.0 and on my previous motherboard I scored 5.9 on both of those sections. I previously had a Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 motherboard which died on me and I replaced with a Gigabyte GA-G41M-S2L motherboard. My graphics card is a Sparkle GeForce 9800 GT. I have not yet installed any anti-virus program as I have just done a fresh install of Windows Vista Home Premium x64 and wanted to install all the drivers etc before installing McAfee. If anyone knows a solution to this problem I would be most grateful.

    Well seems to me this is a recurrent problem ,for i have niether Kaperski or windows 7 N

    I have an asus P5Q motherboard

    windows 7 home premium 64 bit

    ATI Radeon 4850 graphics

    and microsoft security essentials as an antivir

    and unfortunately WEI won'T work and i can not even generate a system health report

    If someone out there has a solution , please reply , i will monitor this thread
