How do I "renew your IP address" to repair my wireless network connection?

This is what the pop up window said----- "windows could not finish repairing the problem because the folowing action cannot be completed - RENEWING your IP ADDRESS" 

Can someone help me to renew my IP so my wireless will work again on a long time laptop.

To renew your IP address:

  1. Open windows command prompt  Start\ Run\cmd\ok2. To release your Ip address ipconfig/releaseEnter3. To renew your IP address ipconfig/renewEnterExitBest of Luck

    Thank you for your advice - spent several hours moving PCs and range extenders between rooms

    to try to isolate the problem by trying different combinations in different rooms

    In summary, the range extender instructions could be clearer - pleased to say that we now have plug in access via 3 points in the house plus the ethernet cable connected to the router

    You don't want to be uninstalling service packs. That will resolve nothing and open your computer to security risks.

        Go to command prompt 

        (Star ->Run-> type-CMD -> hit enter)

    the type ipconfig/release    (release your Ip address ipconfig/release)

    then renew your ip add to type ipconfig/Renew

         (renew your IP address ipconfig/renew)
