This is what the pop up window said----- "windows could not finish repairing the problem because the folowing action cannot be completed - RENEWING your IP ADDRESS"

Can someone help me to renew my IP so my wireless will work again on a long time laptop.

    Mike

the detail you have provided simply says that there is no connectivity

have you tried the XP2 in the same location as XP1 with same POE wire

on Scenario (I) XP2 works on that location, there must be problem in XP1 system

Scenario (II) XP2 wont work then the problem must be connectivity

For Scenario (I) updating driver for NIC as I have mentioned in my earlier post may do the needful

Now that's a good idea - just tried XP2 in location 1 - system briefly connected, then gave the same result at XP1 as explained above - moved XP2 back to original location and got the dreaded BLUE SCREEN - M'Soft error reporting just offered me an ethernet driver update for XP2 - will do later

Meanwhile, have now rebooted and all working again including the connectivity - hence my ability to send this  message from XP2

So we appear to have a Scenario 2 issue - any suggestions re solving the connectivity issue?

All help gratefully received - thanks
