Is there anyway to purchase a replacement Microsoft 2.4 Ghz Transceiver that works with a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2 AND a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3?

I just talked to the Microsoft store and they said that each of these transceivers are unique and it is not cost effective for them to make new ones for the customers. They do not sell replacements. They told me they could give me the cost of a new keyboard and mouse. It was higher than I could have bought it 3 years ago. If there is nothing wrong with my keyboard and mouse why buy another? So in other words, we are just SOL. Microsoft should have said this at the time of purchase. Another example of Microsoft in action. YUP...Of course...sell you another piece of ****. Seems like this is not a unique situation....... SAME PROBLEM here! Almost $60.00 FOR A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE AND NOW IT'S WORTHLESS. Only because the transceiver does not work!!!!! Walmart has an HP unit for 1/2 the price. I figure if it goes bad...I can get 2 for the price of 1. WAY TO GO MICROSOFT!

Fantastic, now what unit are you using it with?
I called Microsoft and determined the USB transceiver was not working. They said they will replace the keyboard, mouse, and USB transceiver for free. I just needed to give them the product ID from the bottom of the keyboard and they give me an RA number. Once they receive it they will send me a new replacement system.
I have the 5000 model and the transceiver is a 2.4 Ghz v6.0. By the way, I have had this system for about 3 or 4 years. They said you cannot buy the USB unit by itself. It will only match up with the original keyboard and mouse which is why you cannot buy the USB transceiver by itself.
For now I will just connect a "wired" keyboard and mouse. This is definitely the least expensive option and I can continue using what I consider to be nicely balanced ergonomically.
