Is there anyway to purchase a replacement Microsoft 2.4 Ghz Transceiver that works with a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2 AND a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3?

If the PID number doesn't match you will just be buying a useless adapter. They are matched up to work only with the mouse and keyboard you bought. Look at your mouse and keyboard and see the PID number is the same on all three components. If you don't get an adapter with the same PID number it is useless.

That statement is just preposterous. They are unique in that they each have a separate physical address but they can pair with any compatible accessory. That's why the receiver, keyboard and mouse all have connect buttons. If the statement of the Microsoft store were true that would not be necessary and the receiver would only work with the mouse and keyboard they were shipped with
The question is what receivers can pair with which accessories? I'd like to find the answer to that question.
I have a Wireless Desktop 2000.
The model 1423 transceiver died, so I called Microsoft suplimental parts at 1-800-360-7561.
They said the keyboard, mouse, and transceiver are all matched, so I can't just buy a new (universal) transceiver.
The agent asked for the product ID number from the keyboard. He looked that up and found the applicable transceiver. He said there was a 3 year warranty, so they would send a replacement for FREE. But it takes about 3 weeks to process and ship the part. Guess I'll have to buy a spare mouse in the meantime.
The store where I bought the product said there was no way to get a new transceiver because they were all different. Each transceiver is paired with a mouse and/or keyboard. I would just have to buy the whole set again. They said it wasn't uncommon to have the transceivers go bad.
Hats off to Microsoft for the warranty service, but it seems they should have some way to sell replacements locally for the transceivers. Why not just have them programmed after purchase to the users wireless devices.
