Transceiver 2.4 Ghz Replacement

If your issue is intermittent operation of the transceiver, as indicated by a loose fit into the USB port and sometimes "on" indicator light (LED) with eventual complete failure, you may want to snug up the fit. My issue was the electrical contacts were intermittent, getting worse with each insertion and removal of the transceiver into its USB port (I take the netbook computer home each day from work).

Inside of the transceiver's USB male connector there is a piece of hard plastic with metal strip contacts running its length encased in a rectangular metal housing that plugs into the computer USB port.  If you can move the plastic piece, or the metal housing with little pressure using your fingernail, simply cut a piece of copy or scrap paper slightly narrower than the plastic strip, fold the paper in half lengthwise, and slip it in between the plastic strip and the metal housing, working it in as far as it will go and cut off the excess paper. Next, test for snugness of fit by plugging the transceiver into the computer USB port. If not tight enough, insert another layer or two of paper (I cut up a business card first and it made the fit too tight).

This completely fixed my non-functional transceiver by restoring the electrical contact with the USB socket/port.

Yeah I ran into same situation. If you are reading this and contemplating getting M$ equipment, my advise to you is DO NOT! I'm going with Logitech at least their equipment works with universal receivers. Screw M$ and their idiotic way to handle devices

The long and short and final answer. Each receiver (dongle) is unique and paired at the factory. If you have a spare receiver, throw it away. It is worthless. If your keyboard receiver fails yet your keyboard is still good, throw away the keyboard. It is worthless. YOU can do NOTHING to get a keyboard and a receiver to work together unless you know how to pair an item designed to prevent pairing. This is a simple Microsoft ploy to 1) keep you from fixing a perfectly good keyboard and force you into buying another one 2)they probably own key stock in Waste Management so they hope you have to junk good stuff, just so they can be just a bit sociopathic in their treatment of customers.

My advice, as a Microsoft Partner is to avoid microsoft mice and keyboards and chose an acceptable Logitech product. Logitech took the alternate approach and makes not only replacements, but upgrades to nano receivers. This proves the absolute lack of necessity in pairing the Microsoft products at the factory. It exposes Microsoft's policy as one purely designed to create more junk and more purchases. If you are faced with this, buy from the company who displays a little more empathy to their customers and a little less empathy for their own bottom line.

Sad because I like Microsoft products, but being an honest Microsoft Partner, I cannot recommend buying something designed to force you into another purchase due to either a failure or the loss of the receiver. There is NO technological reason for this decision; it is a decision made by an MBA who wants to sell more product rather than take care of existing customers. Do no reward the sociopathic business model by giving them your money. I do not say avoid all Microsoft products, just their unrepairable garbage, because no matter how you look at it, you will eventually only own a piece of landfill rather than a functioning product. Perhaps enough rejection will cause a reconsideration of their "policy".

does this Transceiver hangs up the mouse time to time for some seconds if not installed?

Cuz i am having this Issue, I also do have Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0, and in windows 7 when i plug it in, it installs everything except Microsoft 2.4Ghz Transceiver v2.0.

Please guide me how do i install this, I have also searched but didnt find the driver i m looking for.
