I have recently purchased the MS keyboard and mouse 5000 however the transceiver has stopped working.
The model of the transceiver is as follows
-Microsoft 2.4GHz Transceiver v6.0
Reading previous posts has made me loose hope in simply buying a new transceiver. I have surfed the web for replacements. Unfortunately microsoft does not sell individual parts of their products; they only sell complete packages.
What I was thinking was even if i was to purchase a second hand transceiver off eg ebay, would it still work with MY ORIGINAL keyboard?
I am sure that microsoft is smart enough to design each transceiver with its own ID. Otherwise if there was no sort of Identification system in place, surley anyone with an identical keyboard or mouse can have control of your PC.
Please contact me with whatever information you have regarding this issue. Obviously there are many of us facing the same problem and idealy everyone would like the cheapest solution; as I am sure that many of you have paid microsofts rediculous prices for something that is completely BASIC in todays computer world.
They told me they could give me the cost of a new keyboard and mouse. It was higher than I could have bought it 3 years ago. ****
What do mean by the sentence? Literally, you said that Microsoft would give you the money, but judging the rest part, it looks like Microsoft would charge the full price again. Did you write the sentence wrong?****
