Typing Issues (Jumping cursor...moves my text to another line while typing)

Someone please help with this Issue!!!  Everytime I type my cursor jumps around and I have to keep going back and deleting and retyping.  Please help

Hi Tim,

Are you using a laptop by chance?  If so, you can resolve this issue by taking a look at your touchpad options.  If you're using Windows 7, click the Start button, type Mouse in the search field, and click Enter.  There should be an option to change the Device Settings for the TouchPad.  On many models, Synaptics is the maker of the TouchPad and has a Tab of its own in the Mouse properties.  If you don't see these settings, you'll need to install the drivers from your manufacturers website. 

For Dell machines, you can go to support.dell.com.  Select your model and you'll find the driver under Input Device Drivers.  For Compaq/HP machines, go to support.hp.com, select your model and find Keyboard, Mouse and Input devices.

I like to disable the Tap option and raise the PalmCheck sensitivity option.   These are the first options I always change when I get a new laptop; otherwise I have the very same problem.

    Ok here goes: follow instructions and ....

    "No Device Detected" (OS is Win 7 Pro).

    So no help from this answer.

    I installed ages ago 'Touchfreeze', a small app to freeze the finger pad on this laptop.

    Jumping mouse remains a major nuisance ... have had to live with it as laptop too expensive for me to replace just for a non jumping cursor but it has convinced me never to purchase another Windows machine.

    That MS has let this problem go on and on is simply indefensible. I understand that hardware division  blamed software division and vice versa ... not much help to those of us who need to write.

    Never again!

    Edit: just realised I responded to this thread ages ago. The latest notification brought me back and I'd forgotten about my earlier response. Just goes to show that MS doesn't really bother to check these threads.

    I don't waly,nt to rep   this is an example, to left.  I don't want to reply I want to get a fix so that my cursor wont go jumping all over the place.

    Hello Lady M,

    there are so many of us out there and it really does show corporate arrogance that Microsoft permits this technical glitch to continue. I am also in advanced vintage and computer literate (have a website self designed etc and have managed to keep systems going with the help now and again from Windows 7 Forums).

    Rather like the politicians served up to us these days ... while they are not suitable there is no one else to vote for. I really try to hold off from Apple as I don't care for their vertical architecture - everything has to be Apple which to me represents a closed system. I prefer something I can fiddle with and tweak to my own satisfation although I must say Microsoft are every taking this away so I hold onto Win 7 Pro with all my strength dreading the day when I have no choice but to use Win 10.

    I had a sight challenged friend who worked with the voice commands ... as you say they are a way off being reliable at this stage.

    Best wishes, let's hope someone from MS reads this thread and reports the issue. I have tried to report it but getting past the poor souls who work in help desks is nigh near impossible.

    I have the same problem and I'm using a Dell Inspirion 1500 and I'm using extension Mouse never liked using the mouse touchpad so this is a real problem not only with the touchpad but in general I don't even use my laptop to type anymore. I use my tablet or my cell phone I can't be bothered it's so annoying I feel like pulling out the little bit of hair that I have and I am a senior over 60 tech savvy I've never had something so annoying. now I'm working with talk texting in my words the changing right before me in the middle of you hitting send what's up with that? Not sure what's going on with technology but Google talk texting was much better it wasn't perfect but now I don't know what to make of it hope you guys find a solution
