Setting default line spacing in Wordpad

Well, freeware is not trouble free. I got Qjot. Some things are better, some are buggy.

But having everything -basic spreadsheet and prose software- in one box is one reason people are buying Macs. Thanks for the website; hadn't heard of the 2nd one.

I guess they really need some real designers then, because no decend designer would think of such a thing (unless they are really dumb to believe their vision is the right vision).

I see more and more of these ignorant decissions from MS designers which really make me believe there are some pretty dumb/ignorant/snobbish designers working there, also in regard to some "vision" called "windows 8"......

{I'm not replying to the previous post--this is a general reply to all posters--didn't see a way to do that.}

Both these buttons should be set to be compatible, as the bottom also has the top button's options (but not vice-versa)!

I have Wordpad pinned to my Taskbar, as I use it often. One great advantage is that if you right-click any icon on the taskbar, it will pop up a list of recent docs from the program. And you can pin any of these to the top of the list.

1. Pin Wordpad to your taskbar, if you haven't already.
2. Open Wordpad.
3. Set BOTH of the above settings for 1.0 line spacing and in BOTH, UNCHECK the "Add 10 pts...." (Or set the line spacing however you like.)
4. Set any other settings you want as your default--font, color, etc.
5. Save as an .rtf doc called something like "My Default Wordpad Template". You don't have to type a blank or anything at all. Best not to because this will be you default opening for any new .rft doc in the future. Save it anywhere you like. Close.
6. Right-click the Wordpad icon on your Taskbar. It will open a list of your recent Wordpad docs.
7. Right-click on "My Default Wordpad Template" (or whatever you named your template), which should appear at the top of the list. 
8. Right-click the doc and left-click on Properties. Go to the bottom and check Read Only. Click Okay. This means this file cannot be overwritten--if ever you click Save by mistake when you make a new doc (instead of Save As), it will always pop up the Save AS dialogue anyway.
9. Again right-click the Wordpad icon on your Taskbar. Go to "My Default Wordpad Template" (or whatever you named your template), which should appear at the top of the list, and left-click the pin to the right of the doc name/title. (Or right-click for the context dropdown menu and left-click on 'Pin to this list'.) 

YOU'RE DONE! :-)

Now, whenever you want to write a new Wordpad doc, simply right-click the Wordpad icon on the taskbar and left-click your template at the top. Wordpad will open with a blank doc with all your favorite settings, which you can always change easily. No hacks, no registry changes. Just using the features of Windows....:-)....
