Setting default line spacing in Wordpad

Hello,

I have noticed an extremely annoying trait in the Windows 7 version of Word Pad. The Default line spacingis set to 1.15 and "add 10pt after paragraphs".

I would like to change the Default line spacing to 1.0 and "No 10 pt space after paragraphs".  is this possible with a registry hack?

I realize this is silly, but it really is annoying.

I found a really simple trick to bypass this really annoying trait.

I create a simple Wordpad document with the desired settings I want (including fixing the spacing).

I then delete every character, save one ( If you delete the last one Wordpad will default back to

Cambria - 11pt).

Now save this document as 'Document.rtf' or whatever name you want and to any directory you want.

Create a shortcut on your desktop to this file.  Then rename the shortcut Wordpad.

Now whenever you open Wordpad thru this link you will have it open and ready to go with all your settings!

There will be of course one character there, but I start all my Wordpad encounters with copying & pasting

so I never notice it.

I realize this fix might not be what everyone wants, but for anyone who just opens Wordpad from their

desktop like me and many others it is a extremely simple fix to a most annoying problem.

I am afraid t o inform that this is by design in Windows 7 and you will not be able to change it.

    I was able to change the spacing to only one line!

    --in your documents library, you should be able to right click on "new" and then click on "rich text document".  If this fails, you may need to go to the Start menu, type in "notepad", open a notepad file, save it, then copy it as an rtf document (someone may need to elaborate on this latter step).

    --at this point in my newly-created rtf document, the spacing is one and a half lines.

    --to change the spacing to only one line, type two short lines of text in your document, then click on the "select all" box on the toolbar (hover the cursor over it and the title should appear), or just click CTRL + A to select all text.

    --with all the text selected, go up to the toolbar to the "line spacing" box (again, hover the cursor over the box and the text will appear), click on the right-arrow in the box to open its menu, click on "1.0" for spacing AND--very important--UNCHECK THE BOX that says "Add 10pt space after paragraphs".  You should immediately see the spacing close to only one line.

    --save this document as your template for future use.

    Failing any of this, you can try this next step.  Once you open a notepad file or rtf document. open the "dialog box" on the page or in the toolbar area (for text size, I think).  Then you can check a space in that dialog box to change the spacing to only one line.

    I tried finding that dialog box once I did it and saved a document with the one-line spacing, but I can't find it anymore...it's possible it disappears once you make that change.  If anyone else discovers that, please post further directions for others.

    One other thing--you may have to open the initial notepad file or rtf document and save it FIRST before you reopen it or copy it and then open the dialog box to make the change.

    Total microSoft arrogance, as usual.  

    It would be somewhat helpful if a microSoft response at least acknowledged the situation and offered

    to at least evaluate the users', customers' perspective.

    Now,

    was that 1.5 or 2

    line spaces?
