I used 5.0.07.0240 cisco client vpn for 1 mth with my windows 7 -64 bit pc. Worked fine for 1 mth. Suddenly today when I double click on the icon to start it up, VPN automatically minimizes down to the task bar with a status of Disconnected. It does not give you the option to hit connect or anything before it minimizes. I have not seen this before and made no changes..but now it just doesnt work. Any solutions??? Did windows just patch automatically breaking cisco?

Unfortunately, cisco does not provide world class technical service....called them up but no use.

No need to upgrade. The problem can be found in the file vpnclient.ini, probably located in the directory "C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client".

There are probably som really high values in the logwindX and logwindowy values. Just delete these lines and start the client again.

/Jonas

Thanks Jonas

No high values in logwindX and logwindY but very high values in these lines:

WindowX=4294935296

WindowY=4294935296

When deleting them it solves my problem.  Thanks!!!!

I believe there is now a released version of the x64 client you should download.

If you suspect a Windows Update, why not try a system restore to a day it was

working correctly?

    I had the same problem, but it wasn't my  logwindX and logwindowy values that were large, it was the WindowX and WindowY numbers.  I changed them both to 42949 and lauched the VPN GUI successfully WindowWidth=602 WindowHeight=332 WindowX=42949 WindowY=42949 VisibleTab=0 ConnectionAttribute=0 AdvancedView=1 LogWindowWidth=451 LogWindowHeight=501 LogWindowX=1082 LogWindowY=177

    I had the same problem as well. I set my vpnclient.ini settings exactly to match that of the values above & it opened perfectly. Just for the heck of it, I also did what was suggested by TheOtherPete i.e. to delete the vpnclient.ini, so that the vpngui automatically creates one when it is launched and that too worked.

    So both are valid suggestions. Only that in the Bill Curtis method, you still have the old preferences whereas in TheOtherPete method, all settings are purged & restarted.

    This has happened to me on two occasions.  In both instances my laptop was in sleep mode when I placed it on my docking station when I arrived at work.  The WindowX and WindowY increased from 42949 to 4294935296.  I used one of the above methods to rectify the situation.

    LogWindowX, LogWindowY value is Zero(0) in my Scenario. so when I removed those line, it did not resolve my problem.

    So In the .ini file ,I delete all the lines below this

    [main]

    ClientLanguage=

    [GUI]

    Save the file and then restart vpn Client AND the Issue resolved.
