I'm connected to the internet, but not connected.

I am currently connected to the internet. I can surf the web and watch videos. I recently tried to download AVG anti virus and it said I was not connected to the interent. I also cannot play any online games; it says I have no connection. I also tried to install updates to Itunes and microsoft office 2003, but it said I have no connection. I have other computers that are connect to this wireless router just fine, like xbox 360, ps3, and 2 laptops. This computer that is having the problem is home built and has only recently had this problem. Any help would be great. Thank you

    Norton has a LOT to answer for - and its built-in uninstaller even more! I assume that the uninstaller you ran was the SymNRT Norton Removal tool? - if not, then run that as well (it still leaves stuff behind - but mostly in the form of files scattered round the computer, rather than 'bad' entries in the registry.

    The 'Registry error fixers' are almost totally snake-oil sellers - do NOT fall for their charms!

    I had similar problems with a machine yesterday, funnily enough - and it turned out that the Router it was connected to was using static DNS, and one of the DNS servers was poisoned, and redirecting requests to certain sites to some very strange places! I suspect that a literal drive-by hacker changed the DNS targets, as the router was on default security settings.

    Check your DNS settings - most of the time they should be set to automatically get DNS from the ISP - or at least set to get them from well-known public DNS Servers such as OpenDNS or Google. Also check your router to make sure that it hasn't been 'got at' in similar fashion.

    Ah - so why the  USB Wireless stick as well? - Is the Yukon not functioning for what you need?

    If you actually use the USB, all well and good, but otherwise, I'd remove it from Add/Remove programs, and also check that this has removed it from the Device Manager.

    If the Yukon is 'broke' then it may be an idea to turn it off in the BIOS (although this may trigger a call to reactivate the machine), as NIC's of all kinds cause strange errors when they break.
