Windows 7 won't install nVidea Geforce 7300 GT update on a windows 7 64bit machine

Any sugestions ?

We receive this error message when you are trying to update driver from Windows update and installing a driver that is already installed on your computer or a driver that has a lower compatibility rating than one you already have installed.

I would recommend you to update the driver manually. Steps to update the driver manually

i. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

ii. On the “Device Manager” window, expand the item, right click on the sub item and then click “Update Driver”.

iii. Restart the computer once the driver is updated.

If this fails then try to reinstall the driver

i. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

ii. Expand the driver and right click on the sub item and click uninstall.

iii. Restart the computer.

iv. Visit the manufacturer website to download the latest driver.

v. Install the driver and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

I could not figure out how to do this. No help at all.

More frustrations.

Instructions were difficult to understand and follow.

Okay, here's the most basic breakdown there is:

Step 1. Go to your Start menu, and either find or look up "Windows Update", and click on it.

Step 2. Once there, on the left hand side of the page, you will see a list of options. Look for the one that says "Check for updates", and click on it.

Another box will open that will either say "Windows is up to date"with a green border, or "Updates available" with a red border. If you have a green border, stop here, you're all set. If you have a red border, continue below.

Step 3. When you see an underlined update that's available (and has a checkmark to the left of it), do NOT click the check box. Only right click on the actual underlined text. It doesn't matter if it's marked as important or not.

This is where you will see the option to hide the update. No need to go looking for another page, etc. Just left click on the hide option, and you're done!

Do the same for any other unnecessary update notices. :D

Device Manager tells me that both my NVIDIA Adaptors (a GT520 and GTX750Ti) are up to date.

If the error is caused because the driver I have is more up to date or appropriate than the 'new' one,

why do I need to force it to 'update' of them ?

I have no problems with these adaptors.
