HP Multi-function printers may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista and my HP multi-function printer doesn’t work. I can still print if I print from an application but when I try to use the buttons on the printer nothing happens. I also can’t check things like ink levels and I can’t scan. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix this?

Hello Christi,

This is a known issue with the HP Solution Center and upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Basically the HP Solution Center doesn’t upgrade properly to Windows 7 because of some required libraries don’t get migrated during the upgrade. To resolve the issue, click Start, All Programs and click Windows Update, and then check for and install the update for KB 975891.

    The "(Copy 1)" instance can be deleted in the control panel. I would suggest, but not sure, that the "B209a 2" is the selection that has been established for 2-sided printing.

    I am having the same problems. Let me know if you find out how to fix the problem. I have noticed that many of the new printers of all kinds don't have print drivers for Windows 7 platforms. Thanks...Dwnae

    Add the Canon Pixma MP960 to the list.  My printer is recognized by device manager as a removeable disk, under category "disk drives".  Cannot print test page.  This occurred after upgrade from Vista Ultimate 32 bit to Win7 Ultimate 32 bit.  I can dual boot, and Vista recognizes the printer immediately.  On Win7 boot, "Devices and Printers" shows Canon MP960, installed correctly.  I have used the latest Canon driver for Win7, Jan 2010.  No Good.
