HP Multi-function printers may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista and my HP multi-function printer doesn’t work. I can still print if I print from an application but when I try to use the buttons on the printer nothing happens. I also can’t check things like ink levels and I can’t scan. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix this?

Hello Christi,

This is a known issue with the HP Solution Center and upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Basically the HP Solution Center doesn’t upgrade properly to Windows 7 because of some required libraries don’t get migrated during the upgrade. To resolve the issue, click Start, All Programs and click Windows Update, and then check for and install the update for KB 975891.

HI,

i have 2 friends that has the similar issues with win7 upgrade..the first friend has his HP printer install over the network and it display the print file in the spooler printer window but it disapear and nothing coming out of printer. So we try to use the USB cable instead and same result. He has 2 systems with windows 7 64bit upgrade and 1 system works ok with the same printer and the other doesnt work...My other friend has windows 7 64 upgrade and she has 2 HP printers install - the deskjet prints ok and the photosmart deosnt print(it shows in the queue and disapear..connected by usb. we swap usb and same result - re-install the driver multi time)...When both of my friends had windows vista 64...their printers works ok - after the upgrade it doesnt work. The HP driver apply to both OS ...vista & windows7 64bit...By searching the net, it appears that any OS upgrade has that issue..and it it appear on any type of printer...Dell,, Lexmark, Canon & HP..i beleive its something in the upgrade that cause the issue..something or files that doesnt do the upgrade or the security isnt setup in one of the folder after the upgrade....thanks

add Epson alli in one Office BX300F to the list. Used to work on vista. Sort of worked for awhile on windows 7 proffessional 64bit. Plugged into USB on laptopthe other day, not recognised. also code 43 came up. Epson technical very helpful (and free!!!) and checked it out and said it was a Microsoft problem. Nothing wrong with the printer. Am pulling my hair out, as if I hadn't lost enough already through nature. Trying to run a very small business with limited income and having to spend hours to try and sort this out. I need to print off invoices so I can get paid!!! HELP PLEASE IN VERY SIMPLE TERMINOLOGY. Seems none of the printers I looked at at Staples or Best Buy support Windows 7. I was just looking at a couple HP & Canon models. Early adopting by manufacturers? Not a chance.
