HP Multi-function printers may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

I have had this issue with HP 4200 series, and HP 2600 series, and now Canon MP250.  Everything says it should work, but absolutely nothing will print, not even test pages.

RE Lexmark AIO 7675. I checked on this site and Lexmark for compatibility issues before installing Win7. Both said the machine was compatible. I do not have a fax driver on my PC. To save paper and ink I have been using the desktop fax option. I now found out, after an hour on the phone with Lexmark, and after they hun up on me, that that portion of the software update may not be available for 6-8 mos or so. And the only soution so far is that I am screwed. I have to revert back to paper and ink or am forced to buy a fax mode. either way. Windows 7 and Lexmark websites lied to me and I have no recoarse?!? Someone owes me a desktop fax solution - and not in 6-8 mos. If I knew of the possiblity of failure I would not have installed the new OS. But, I gues that is what they count on. Sell it, install it and oh well doesn't work, and everyone says Tough Sh** because the sale is done.  I know this is a big issue because the service dept, (I tried to return the danged thing) at Staples said they have recv'd many similar calls. 

When will this issue with drivers and information be updated?!?. Would have been nice to sort this out in the beta era, don't ya think!?!

No I don't have THE answer.    But, I have an hp6500 e709a with an added duplexer, got it from parts dept where it was on compatability list.  It worked fine on two vista pentium duo 32bit laptops and xp upgraded to vista desktop (boy was that a waist of money) for maybe 4 months then I bought an HP Pavilion with duo-quad Intel and of course Win 7 running 64bit.  Now vista machines see it but will only print to the que.  Period, no other functions.  Pavilion see's it and works on ALL functions I've tried except it won't duplex even thought it is 'installed' in the printer setup and preferences.  Sayes "duplexer not installed" asks permission to print one sided and then flips even pages as if it was duplexing.  Have both USB and Network, same problems. 

Now, somewhere in their forums HP has said "They are late getting their complete drivers out for 7, but WILL have them online BY the END of January. What's there are currently ONLY basic print and scan drivers."  And that is as close as I could get in a month and a half.  Oh, I have a 6 yr old HP Photosmart 2710 on Wireless with a new added duplexer and it has worked without a flaw on ALL my computers, but the ink is too expensive and the speed could be a lot faster, hence the 6500.   Hope this helps someone, or at least helps keep the fire burning under HP's butt.

UP DATE

Last night. 3 hrs after the above post, I got a notice for the up date.  Well guess what. I followed the instructions three times. Each time it said I installed correctly, and now I can't even get the the test page past the spooler.

Same for me. Very expensive computer. Buy upgrade and nothing works. This is no style. Nothing is compatible anymore. My 2 flatsreens dont work prperly - hp w2558, my printer dont work properly - hp j 4680. My Xbox dont work properly ... This is a blame for microsoft and hp. We pay for that stuff and nothing works. For the moment i'm busy, busy, busy, only with installing, uninstalling ...
