HP Multi-function printers may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista and my HP multi-function printer doesn’t work. I can still print if I print from an application but when I try to use the buttons on the printer nothing happens. I also can’t check things like ink levels and I can’t scan. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix this?

Hello Christi,

This is a known issue with the HP Solution Center and upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Basically the HP Solution Center doesn’t upgrade properly to Windows 7 because of some required libraries don’t get migrated during the upgrade. To resolve the issue, click Start, All Programs and click Windows Update, and then check for and install the update for KB 975891.

    I am having the same problems. Let me know if you find out how to fix the problem. I have noticed that many of the new printers of all kinds don't have print drivers for Windows 7 platforms. Thanks...Dwnae

    The "(Copy 1)" instance can be deleted in the control panel. I would suggest, but not sure, that the "B209a 2" is the selection that has been established for 2-sided printing.

    Ive got an OEM version of Windows 7 Pro 32bit.

    I have a HP Photosmart B209a.

    The drivers work and the unit prints via Wifi, but......

    • Ive got 3 different B209a printers to choose from each time I want to print. This is amazingly ANNOYING
    1. Hp Photosmart B209a
    2. Hp Photosmart B209a 2
    3. HP Photosmart B209a (Copy 1)
    • Some dont work, some do, depending on the application requesting printing
    • some print double side some dont
    • Ive posted my frustration on HP consumers forum, they love to ignore it.

    Does MS have any solutions as HP have FA!

    Your post was dated October 22, 2009. Since today is January 18, 2010, you may not have that problem anymore. I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7--it found drivers for ALL of my computer hardware, including my HP PSC 1315 all-in-one.

    Check Microsoft Update now and look for hardware driver updates.
