How to change monitor 1 for monitor 2

I have a Gateway with HDMI and Vga outputs. I connect the VGA to a regular computer monitor, and the HDMI to a new 37 HDTV, but by default the HDMI output is identified as Monitor 1 and the vga to monitor 2, I new to change the identity of the monitors so 1 to be 2 and 2 to be 1, please advice

    Glad you pointed that out.  I have 1 hdmi & 1 dvi port - 1 television and 1 computer monitor. I suppose it's possible to use 2 hdmi cables with an hdmi to dvi adapter on one end if switching ports works, but the consensus seems to be that it doesn't.

    I have a sony vaio duo with a bad screen.  I went into pc settings in win 8.1 and told the screen to only show the 2nd screen which is a 27 inch vga plug in screen.  It asked me if I wanted to make it primary and I said yes.  Now the bad sony toubh screen is completely out of the picture.  I tested the 27 inch screen on a restore of image and it came up fine - whew.  So try declaring 2nd screen only and see if the pc asks you if you want to make it primary....Gene

    I found an easy way to switch 1 and 2 monitors between each other.  Get to the display option page where both of the monitors show as 1 and 2.  Same page you would be entering extend and etc.  Just click on one of the monitors and drag it over.  That is it.  No bios , no hassles.
