How to change monitor 1 for monitor 2

I have a Gateway with HDMI and Vga outputs. I connect the VGA to a regular computer monitor, and the HDMI to a new 37 HDTV, but by default the HDMI output is identified as Monitor 1 and the vga to monitor 2, I new to change the identity of the monitors so 1 to be 2 and 2 to be 1, please advice

    Hey davecook03,

    I don't think there is a way to change the labels for your monitors but there is a solution to your problem. While you're looking at the display settings, under the "Change the appearance of yours displays there's a small diagram showing your two monitors. Right now it probably shows monitor 1 on the left and monitor 2 on the right.

    All you need to do is click and drag monitor 2 in the diagram to the left side of monitor 1. This should solve your problem and make dragging windows from one monitor to the other much more intuitive.

    thx dude u just solved my problem at work... and u know what.. i am freakin using computer more than 20 years but i have never needed and imagined that that display can be dragged and dropped :D Hah... thx again..

    This is exactly what I needed to do. Thanks. Without checking box labled, "Make this my main display" I was able to switch my display view but the cursor needed to be dragged the opposite way when extending desktop. Checking box for my display 2 allowed that to be the main monitor and allowed me to move my cursor off to the right for extended desktop where my other monitor exists.

    You can better use a Winkey + P , which will launch you the projector options. In that choose Projector only , your new 37 HDTV will work as a display for your PC. Ping me if it has any conflicts.
