click start button and type "msconfig" and hit enter. When open goto startup tab and un-tick the program with name of "windows live" or "iexplore.exe" and hit apply and close. Hope it will help!

tried to do this but have not got windows live or iexplore.exe, what now also my chat doesn't work on facebook could these problems be link. HELP

A suggestion around that would be to totally uninstall it and then re-install it. I pulled the direct link to re-install itright hereif you would like to try it. To uninstall it completely, just go Start-> Control Panel-> Programs-> Uninstall a Program-> Then select Microsoft Live Essentials.
