Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service

Whenever I try to check for solutions in the action center of Windows 7, I get the following error message: Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service. Some of the reports could not be uploaded to the Windows Error Reporting service. Please try again later.

This issue started appearing a few days ago, even though I didn't make any changes in my computer. I don't have any firewall (except for the default Windows firewall) and all my other programs work just fine on the Internet.

Any ideas what might cause the issue?

Problem solved.

I actually had to purge all the existing reports using the Disk Cleanup utility.

Which basically defeats the whole purpose for the program in the first place. Makes no sense to have to purge the existing problems BEFORE they can successfully be reported. Yet another SNAFU for Microsoft since the departure of Gates. How sad when the CEO only cares about $$$ and not the end user - whether they are a consumer or a business - or the QUALITY of the products they offer for sale or the SUPPORT for said products.

The "blue screen of death" is typically related to either a failed or failing piece of hardware (memory stick, sound card, other expansion board in the machine that is not built into the motherboard)  or missing, wrong or corrupt device driver.

Make sure all your drivers are up to date by going to the manufacture's website and checking for updates there or by doing a fresh install of the driver(s) there. You should be able to identify the manufacture and model number of each piece of hardware through your control panel.

If the problem still occurs and you're comfortable opening up your machine, verify that all the memory sticks and expansion boards are properly seated by removing and re-installing them. Note that memory sticks are locked into their slots so make sure you know how to release and re-install them.

    **  WARNING  **

Make sure that your machine is not only turned off but unplugged from it's power source.

Also static electricty and computers are not friends. Discharge any static electricty from yourself by touching something that is grounded.

For me the reporting service was not started.  Starting it did not solve the issue however.
