Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service

Whenever I try to check for solutions in the action center of Windows 7, I get the following error message: Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service. Some of the reports could not be uploaded to the Windows Error Reporting service. Please try again later.

This issue started appearing a few days ago, even though I didn't make any changes in my computer. I don't have any firewall (except for the default Windows firewall) and all my other programs work just fine on the Internet.

Any ideas what might cause the issue?

Problem solved.

I actually had to purge all the existing reports using the Disk Cleanup utility.

But this just removes the error being reported that is causing the problem.  I get this error also and it seems to be certain problems that cause the issue whereas other errors in error log are able to upload information.  The errors that remain in bold type are the ones that can't be reported.  Microsoft needs to fix this.  I think it is errors that have a MEMORY.DMP and it doesn't want to upload hundreds of MB.  I've checked and each MEMORY.DMP also has a corresponding minidump.  Why not upload that one?  Still too big a file?

    Hi Amrita:

I am getting the same problem.

I think it has something to do with the permissions of the files.

I tried to access the two files

    C:\Windows\minidump\071510_28468-01.dmp

    and

    C:\users<IDHERE>\AppData\Local\Temp\Wer-79250-0.sysdata.xml

    on my system

    but get an error:

    Access is denied

when I tried to "CD" into the Minidump directory from the Windows directory using the CMD DOS prompt.

I also get the same error when trying to "copy" the Wer-......xml file to \users<IDHERE> so I

    can look at it.

I was able to access these files and copy them if I boot into safe mode (F8) and use a command prompt.

I then got the Windows SDK and there is a tool called windump.exe

I used IE to view the xml file.

    Also

I did the following to view these two files

    Start->Control Panel->Action Center->Maintenance->View reliability history

    Click on a date column

Click on an Action column->"Check for a solution"

    Click View problem details

Click View a temporary copy of these files

A "Problem reporting" dialog comes up and says

"Windows is extracting a temporary copy of the files"

    Then the dialog goes away.

I have now idea where this temporary copy went or if anything happend.

I don't think anything happend because of the "access denined" errors

    I got above.

I didn't get everything just the debugging tools

I also had to get the .NET Framework stuff

Here are some links that explan my problem a little

    BSOD - BCCode: 1000007e

I think the code I get is 0x000007e when the blue screen happens but the code that shows up has a 1 in front.

I can prevent the Blue Screen if I unplug my

    Linksys

    Wireless G

    WUSB54G Ver. 4

    S/N: MEQ20E990301

    WiFi USB Adapter.

I notice that I get the Blue Screen quicker if I open IE and then Open Outlook Express.

I have gone for 4 hours without getting the blue screen if I don't open Outlook express to check my mail

and just use my ISP's webmail site.

I tried to find the "RUN AS ADMIN" and couldn't find this.

    I did the following

    1. Start
    2. Search for "Services"

       3 programs are found

          Services with a gear icon

          Component Services

          Services with a window icon

       I selected the 1st one.

    1. I didn't find "RUN AS ADMIN" so I right clicked and selected properties

There is a Log On TAB

(*) Local System account was checked.

There is a ( ) This account: section

What do you do here to run as admin?

    Thanks
