Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service

Whenever I try to check for solutions in the action center of Windows 7, I get the following error message: Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service. Some of the reports could not be uploaded to the Windows Error Reporting service. Please try again later.

This issue started appearing a few days ago, even though I didn't make any changes in my computer. I don't have any firewall (except for the default Windows firewall) and all my other programs work just fine on the Internet.

Any ideas what might cause the issue?

Problem solved.

I actually had to purge all the existing reports using the Disk Cleanup utility.

    Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key. Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here.

    Lots of problems. We need to get to the underlying cause.

     

    I suspect the problems start from USB Devices that need updated drivers. I can identify one device as an an iPhone but others are not telling me what they are.

     

    Type Device Manager in the Search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? If yes what is the Device Error code.

     

    Windows Update seem to be giving you problems. What updates have not installed? Select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, View Update History, double click the failed update and post the Failure Code and Update reference number. If we can resolve the update problems it will reduce the number of errors making it easier to see and understand the other problem.

    so you suspect that the root cause for not sending the data to the windows error reporting service are the USB drivers ??

    I checked the device manager, but currently there are NO yellow question marks.

    The last failed windows update was for Microsoft Silverlight (KB2636927) with failure code 8000652.

    To see Hidden Devices (Non Plug and Play Drivers) you need to select View, Show Hidden Devices. It is necessary to do this every time you open Device Manager if you need to see them.

    A further complication can be Ghosted Devices –installed but not connected!

    In Device Manager right click on the device and select Properties, Details tab. You will see displayed Property and Value. To the right of Property is a scroll. From the list accessed using the scroll, select Device Description and this may give an understandable Device Name as the value. Use the scroll again and select Device Instance Path. The value shown will most likely mean nothing to you. Place the cursor on the value, right click and copy into a further message here.
