network printer shows offline

In windows vista my cable network printer shows offline now. Everything else is fine i can still go onto the internet etc. ??

right click on (Network)Printer , choose Properties , go to Ports tab, choose Configure Port , then un-check SNMP Status Enable option,

I had same problem and this solution solved for me, hope this will help for u.

    HI ,

        I am using windows 7 after restarting the system my canon lbp 2900 get offline. As you say in PORT option i need to CONFIGURE PORT , but the problem is when i am trying to configure its giving an error it says that "this operation is not supported". please  tell me how to make it online permanently.

    Try doing this. Go to the server (the computer to which the printer is physically attached). Press start button. Type 'services'.

    A services window shall open. In that, select the service called 'print spooler'. Right click it and press 'stop'. Then press 'start'.

    Now select that network printer from your computer [the computer from which you want to print] from 'Network'. Select the server. Double click it. Select the  printer on it. Right click on it and select 'connect'

    Then give your print command as usual.

    Thanks Lionking67 that did the trick for me. I disable firewall settings and it started working. The strange this is if i enable the firewall straight away it keeps working. The SNMP fix didnt do anything for me.
