Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W compatibilty with Windows 7, comes up as "Unspecified" device

I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W laser printer that works quite well, I just updgraded to Windows7 from XP but my printer doesn't work anymore. It appears as PP1350W in the "Devices and Printers" window as an unspecified device. I tried installing the Vista Drivers for the Page Pro 1400W and now that printer appears in under "printers and Faxes", however the PP1350W is still listed as an unspecified device and printing to the 1400W does nothing. What's worse is not I can't even remove the 1400W no matter how many times I tell it to remove, it just automatically pops up again. Is there a generic driver out there for the PagePro 1350W that will work in Windows7 so I can at least have basic printing functionality?

Hello gUnit101,

From what i see in the Compatibility Center there are several versions of the PagePro printer that are compatible but the 1350 is not listed.  The 1100 and 1400 are listed but not the 1350.  I would check with Konica to see if they have updated drivers for your specific model or see if the drivers for one of the other models can work with your printer.

    manni_singh and Greg W, thanks. The Vista drivers trick didnt work on Windows 7. Perhaps because I couldnt uninstall of find the 1400?

    I will try the Xerox Global driver.

    I finally received a reply back from Konica/Minolta and the rep was quite upfront which I like and told me that they have no plans to create drivers for Windows 7.  Is Konica/Minolta becoming the Samsung of mobile phones in terms of software support?  ;)

    One Solution is to download and install the Xerox Global Printer Driver.

    I have a 1350W on a linux CUPS server. Printing from Windows 7 64 bit across a network using ms publisher imagesetter would not print pdf files.

    Installed the Xerox Global Print Driver and suddenly 64 bit Windows 7 could print everything.

    I am not sure how well this would work with the printer attached by usb or parallel port, but for network printing, it works great.

    Just Google Xerox Global Print Driver PS (make sure to specify 64 bit windows 7 at the top of the download page).

    Hi Sammy,

    I have my printer connnected over a network via a windows XP machine.  I'm assuming that your trying to connect the printer directly. 

    Try the following:

    unplug the printer and then uninstall all the printers 1350W and 1400W.

    Restart your computer make sure that there are no unknown devices.

    Download the Vista drivers for 1400W and unzip the files to somewhere on your computer.

    Plug in the 1350W printer when the installation box appears click on the option that you have driver disk.  Select the location where you unzipped the drivers.  Select the file M2KXP__Y.inf

    Let me know if that works for you.

    Hi Alan,

    I carried out an extensive search of the microsoft catalog using konica, minolta and 1350 as search terms...still wasnt able to find a driver.  Thank you for providing the address for the catalogue will save it for future reference. 

    I do have the printer working now using the following workround.  Hope this helps someone:

    Installed 1350w on XP machine and enabled printer sharing

    Installed 1400w with 64 bit drivers on Windows 7 machine as a local printer attached to the "file" port

    Then under properties for the printer added a new local port as \computername\printer

    Was able to print took me a few attempts to figure out that bidirectional support should be disabled.

    This guy is awesome. This DID work for me.  I downloaded the 1400 file from the Konica Minolta site and ran the setup.

    Didnt work for me. I still have the 1350W showing up as an unknown device even thought the name is there. I installed the 1400w 64 bit (for Vista). Nothing is available for Windows 7. There error message I get is that the "Addprinter failed!. It's the same message I get whether i Use the 1350w or 1400w.

    Why doesnt the above work for me?
