Window 7 will can not Backup or let me do a system image backup.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7, but when I try to do a complete backup or system backup, it fails.

I started to do a full backup to dvd, it took hours and stopped  at 84%,  I also tried to backup with system image, but this faild,  I tried to backup to an external drive 80GB drive and window said this wasn’t big enough.

Why cant I  backup Windows 7.

    OK this makes no sense but I have been working on this backup problem too. I just got an E machine with windows 7 and the backup stops at 25%. The emachine people said this is beyond usual support so call the support line and pay $$. (Microsoft would be cheaper)

    As a last resort, I put in a CD and it seems to have worked! Except when it got to 100% it did not shut itself off but it looks like it got everything. Realize this is new computer so I did not have a whole lot of files. The recovery programs for the machine itself worked fine.

    Iwas just forced to do a clean install because of other problems. Now after re-installing everything I want to do a System Image backup so that if I ever need to do it again I'll at least avoid the hassles of several days of application re-installation.

    I'm trying to back up to one of the 1TB drives I have in the system.

    But I have the same problem. Every time I try, I get "failed due to a device error ...." with an error code of 0x8078012D.

    "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (0x88007045D)"

    I've run chkdsk on both drives with no errors.

    This is insane.

    Yet another dis-functional windows service!  Iam usint a windos 7 64bit recovery disc and restoring from a USB hard drive to a NEW internal drive so obviously no AV softwareas there is nothing on the drive, no services to re-enable as there is no O/S installed

    Any ideas??.......Anyone

    I have the same problem did you find an answer my Vaio backed up to disc and nothing since same error code as you cant seam to get any answer from sony or microsoft bring back XP that worked fine.
