Window 7 will can not Backup or let me do a system image backup.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7, but when I try to do a complete backup or system backup, it fails.

I started to do a full backup to dvd, it took hours and stopped  at 84%,  I also tried to backup with system image, but this faild,  I tried to backup to an external drive 80GB drive and window said this wasn’t big enough.

Why cant I  backup Windows 7.

    Hello- an update.

    Still doesn't work. I have not tried the Acronis True Image solution yet, but that is my next step. I did a clean install and used a full version of Windows 7 professional 64 bit. All the drivers are up to date. The file system is NTFS on the external drive, and I formatted it several times to make sure it wasn't the issue. Never did work. I am not going to go through a clean instal over and over to solve this....too much work!

    By any chance did you ever resolve your backup problem?  I just bought a Dell laptop and have the same issue.  Dell wants me to format my hard drive and re-load all of the programs.  I don't think that would help.  Microsoft will not provide support as the OS, Windows 7, is OEM and they say that the laptop manufacturer has responsibilty.

    As my Windows 7 Ultimate backup is 'not fit for purpose', instead I am using Microsoft approved Acronis True Image Home 2010.
