How to completely remove Copilot from Edge?

I've already disabled Copilot in the sidebar. I've toggled off "Chat response on result page" in the search settings. I want the Copilot AI disabled from the search result page, preventing automatic chatboxes on searches, and not activating when scrolling to the top of the results page.

Let's see if ISO 42001 has any effect on the behaviour of AI services and data interaction. (ISO/IEC 42001:2023Information technology — Artificial intelligence — Management system https://www.iso.org/standard/81230.html  if anyone is interested)

Hopefully IBM's data governance for AI tooling will start to show people just how AI can breach access boundaries when it is allowed to suck in data from all sources. Do you know if your LLM is just looking at your HR data or is it also teaching itself about the finance system linked to employee's banking details?

Seriously, all the suppliers need to make AI an opt-in service as part of their data privacy controls. After all, there is no data privacy if you can't say no to the data being collected or the way it is processed, and then disseminated via an AI learning assimilation.

I wonder how you invoke the 'right to be forgotten' once AI has learnt about you? Would that be a GDPR breach happening right there? What's 4% of M$ annual turnover? Wow, now THAT would be a significant fine.

There is no way to turn it off completely. You can try the in-depth access to Group Policy but if you are unfamiliar with that process you can get into a mess. Back up ypur machine before trying. Microsoft is hell bent on forcing their customers to adopt CoPilot and there is no way other than staying back on Microsoft 10 - which has its own serious issues. Apple is headed in the same direction although they “promise” they won’t use the data their process collects other than making your “experience better”. Microsoft doesn't make any such promises with their data capture. It is going to take some serious legislation to stop this and that doesnt seem likely until something egregious happens to an important person or business.

Turning it off in GPO does not work. It still appears in the Edge search bar and searches
