Browser getting blurred frequently - Windows 11

Hello All,

Hope you're doing well,

Recently, I've updated Microsoft Edge Browser and it frequently gets blurred automatically. After some time, It gets back to normal. When I checked this problem on the Internet, It asked me to turn off Hardware Acceleration in my Browser.

I turned off & restarted the browser but I am still facing the same problem. I've attached a screenshot of how it looks. Could anyone help me fix this issue ASAP?

Thank You :)

Regards,

Advaith N Aithal

Just experienced this myself, never had this happen before with any browser. Must be a rendering issue, I see the page load but it's completely blurred so badly.

    Hi @jescott418

I do not want to sound like a Microsoft Engineer because I am not but please let us know the following:

    • Which version of MS Edge do you run?
    • Does the blur happen approximately 30 mins after idling or while you work?
    • Does this happen on your personal or work account?
    • If work account, do you know if your company has MS Intune with MAM configured?

I have this version: Version 120.0.2185.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit).

The issue remains on the business profile, but not on the personal profile.

    Regards

    Casper

I have the exact same issue with information in the Edge browser getting blurry. The tabs at the top of Edge and the address bar, and the bookmark bar are all crisp, but the information in the Edge browser window is blurry.

THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN USING CHROME THEREFORE IT IS AN EDGE ISSUE.

Who at Microsoft thought it was a good idea to implement this feature? This makes my eyes and brain hurt because I am expecting the information in Edge to be CRISP not blurred out. When I glance at the information in an Edge browser and it is blurred out, I question if I am having a stroke or if there is something wrong with my eyes!

I have not had this problem until October 30th, 2023. What the heck is happening?

I have turned off the following options in Edge:

    Image

Update: This ONLY happens on my "Work" Edge profile, not my "Personal" Edge profile. I found this link that points to MAM configuration in Intune for Edge:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/msedge_other-msedge_win11/window-display-in-ms-edge-randomly-blurs/d80a041f-9067-4e0b-a496-d8a88524b24c?messageId=31777a2d-32db-45e4-becd-718abea3dd85

Basically, it looks like someone somewhere thought that having the browser blur after a specified time passes is a great security feature. If your organization has MAM configured in Intune for Edge, it's possible that there is a setting either purposefully configured to blur after a period of time, or the setting is not configured which means Microsoft defaults to blurring the browser after a period of time.

** The only way to prevent Edge from blurring content on your "Work" profile is for your organization administrator to configure the required setting in Intune to never blur. **

I have created a profile with Google Chrome for all of my work accounts and I am not experiencing the issue with the browser blurring content in Chrome.

Yeah, around October 30th, 2023 is when I first noticed it started happening to me too.

I'm on Edge for Business, V118.0.2088.76 (Official build) (64-bit).

Intel graphics chip for a Dell Latitude E5450.

    W10 22H2 with September 2023 updates.

O thought I was replying to Amanda (E), so to answer Casper Swanepoel (spook):

I haven't timed how long it takes to blur out but I'd guess less than 30 minutes.

    It's a work account.

Company uses Zscaler. (Intune and profile management is used only on mobile devices, so technically, the company uses them, but not on laptops.)
